Grandma's Marathon Information

STARTING LINE: Grandma's Marathon starts at 6:30 a.m. for the half marathon and 7:30 a.m. for the full marathon. The starting line is located just outside of Two Harbors, Minnesota. The wheelchair participants will start at 7:25 a.m. Runners will not be allowed to start early. There will be no facilities at the start for dressing.

Runners who have run a 2:25 marathon or faster should line up on the first starting line. All other runners should line up according to their projected finishing times on the second starting line. Walkers and slower runners must start in the back rows.

TIME SPLITS: 5 - 6.2 - 10 - 13.1 - 15 - 20 - 25 - 26 miles

TIMING: ChampionChip timing will be used for Grandma's Marathon, the Garry Bjorklund Half Marathon and William A. Irvin 5K.

AID STATIONS: Aid stations are located at 3, 5, 7, 9, 11, 13, 15, 17, 19, 20, 21, 22, 23, 24 and 25 miles. Water and Ultima Replenisher are provided at all stations. Sponges are provided at 11, 13, 15, 17, 19, 20, 21, 22, 23, 24 and 25 mile water stations.

Clif SHOT is available at Mile 17.
Please do not stop at the first table of each water station, as this may cause runners to back up. There are plenty of fluids farther down. Runners can trust the fluids received from the official aid stations. There are a number of unofficial water stations along the course - it is suggested that you use discretion in accepting fluids from sources other than official water stations. First aid is available at the end of every water station.

RACECOURSE COURTESY: Please be considerate of your surroundings during Grandma's Marathon.
At the starting line and along the course be respectful of residents' property. Use the portable toilets provided at the start and along the course at the aid stations, rather than private yards or gardens.

Remember: emergency vehicles have the right-of-way at all times during the race. The police and traffic control volunteers have YOUR safety in mind, and deserve to be treated respectfully by runners and spectators alike.

Runners who have finished the race need to avoid interference with runners approaching the finish line.
